The Further Education and Training (FET) Certificate in Real Estate consists of a number of subjects, each of which is defined in terms of standards. If you have been operating as an estate agent you probably already meet many of those standards, through other qualifications which you've already earned, or through general experience. The idea of Recognition of Prior Learning is to assess your present knowledge in terms of the standards, and give you full credit for what you already know, so as to reduce the amount of study you need to do to earn the FET Certificate.
There are several RPL assessment firms, which carry out this process. Be aware that an RPL assessment will be only accepted if the assessment firm is accredited by the Services Sector Education and Training (SETA www.serviceseta.org.za and the Estate Agency Affairs Board www.eaab.org.za
For details of the most current Accredited Training Providers go to their websites.
Some IEASA regional offices arrange group RPL assessments for members or offer advice/guidance in this regard to their members. For further information, please contact your nearest IEASA regional office.
