Western Cape Region website goes live.
The Institute of Estate Agents (IEASA) launches itself into cyberspace on February 1 with a multi-purpose pilot project website designed to promote itself and members to the public while acting at the same time as an extensive information data base to estate agents and potential estate agents. Design of the site has also been cleverly structured to allow for its inclusion by other IEASA regions. Announcing the site in an interview with the Property Professional, IEASA national co-ordinator Kate Colsell, says http://www.ieasa.co.za will be made up partially of static information that will remain the same for all regions, such as the history of the Institute and data that can be updated on a regular basis. The data update facility can be used for functions and training through a built in administrative tool which will give web access to Institute employees to edit information. A great deal of thought has been given to the range of general content of the site and will include consumer information on the national body, information on regional offices; membership database with search facility; IEASA products and useful contact lists. Colsell says the membership database will allow consumers to search for estate agents specialising in suburbs and the listing of agents' personal photograph and logo alongside the displayed data for an administration fee of R50 00 if submitted in disc or e-mail format or R75 if hard copy is supplied. Members keen to maximise their personal exposure on the medium can include a summary of themselves or their company on their "page." Colsell will be directing an advertising campaign at consumers to encourage them to use the site as a primary source in selecting an agent. The site will also generate revenue by carrying some banner advertising. For more details: Kate Colsell 021 531 3180.
