Estate Agency Affairs Board's new CEO announced
The Institute of Estate Agents of South Africa welcomes the appointment of Mrs Nomonde Mapetla as the new CEO of the Estate Agency Affairs Board. IEA president Bill Rawson says the EAAB - the industry's regulating authority - has been without a CEO for most of the past year and it is good news that there is now someone of Mrs Mapetla's impressive calibre at the helm. Mrs Mapetla has held a number of high-profile executive positions in both the public and private sectors, and serves on a number of boards. "There are a number of issues which need attention," says Rawson. "Those of greater magnitude include the introduction of the national qualifications, and working on the property empowerment charter. At a more mundane level, there are also problems surrounding the issuing of fidelity fund certificates, and the administration of the Board exam. "Mrs Mapetla is well-known as a champion of black economic empowerment," says Rawson, "and we hope that her appointment will enable our industry to complete its long drawn-out transformation process. "We're also very encouraged by her views on streamlining the Board's efficiency, clarifying its role, and emphasising its status as an authority." Rawson says the Institute, which represents the interests of the property industry, remains committed to working with the Board in the interests of the industry.
