EAAB Renewal time
Estate Agents who intend continuing in Real Estate next year must renew their registration with the Estate Agency Affairs Board before the end of October 2005. This timely reminder comes from Arnold Nel the Chairman of the Institute of Estate Agents South Africa Pietermaritzburg & Interior region which is the Real Estate Industry's professional body. Nel says " the EAAB should be sending out renewal notices shortly, but the onus rests with the Estate Agents to make sure they pay their renewal fees to the EAAB before the month- end deadline. Renewal fees are not being increased, but penalties are levied on late payments.''
''This is a good opportunity to remind sellers and landlords that, by law, Estate Agents must be registered with the EAAB, and to warn the public against dealing with unregistered Estate Agents and Firms. Before sellers and landlords appoint Estate Agents to sell or rent their properties, they should ask to see the Estate Agents Fidelity Fund Certificate( FCC) or their FCC ID card for the current year. If the public are in doubt about an Estate Agents status, they can call the EAAB in Johannesburg (011 7315600) and check their details over the phone.''
''Naturally, as IEASA PMB Chairman, I would like to encourage the public / consumers to give preference to Estate Agents who are members of the Institute of Estate Agents, membership of IEASA is voluntary, and we provide our members with professional training and support. IEASA membership also means that our members are registered with the EAAB resulting in added protection for the public.''
