This By-Law is now enforceable throughout the Unicity. In terms of Schedule 12 of the By-Law, which relates to Estate Agents Signs, each estate agency is now required to make application, on an annual basis, for permission to display Estate Agents Signs. Moreover, the Council, at its meeting held on 30 May 2001, approved a new uniform tariff structure for the erection and display of directional and show-house/ show-flat/show-plot signs throughout its area of jurisdiction. The tariffs as set out hereunder were effective from 1 July 2001 and payable by all estate agencies operating throughout the City of Cape Town viz: 1. Registration fee: R 350,00 2. Deposit per branch: R 1 250,00 Please ensure that your estate agency is registered by completing and signing the attached registration form and return same to your local administration within fourteen (14) days from the date of this letter. The completed and signed registration form must be accompanied by an amount of R1 600,00 which represents the registration fee and deposit. Signs not displayed in accordance with the attached conditions will be removed and/or a photograph taken, as proof, by an official responsible. The cost for such removal or fine will be deducted from the deposit paid by your estate agency. Should the deposit be exhausted at any stage, the erection and display of any signs by your estate agency will not be allowed until a further deposit of R 1 250,00 has been paid. Should you not make application, all illegal estate agent boards will be removed and the cost of removal will be for your account. Your attention and co-operation in complying with the above will be appreciated. I/we hereby irrevocably indemnify the Municipality of Cape Town and keep it indemnified against all actions, proceedings, claims, demands, costs, damages and expenses arising directly or indirectly from or out of the grant or use of the facilities referred to above, whether or not as a result of negligence on the part of the Municipality during the course of erection, presence or removal of the signs aforementioned.
